What is a Breast Lift?

A breast lift sometimes referred to as mastopexyis a procedure that is performed by plastic surgeons in order to alter the shape that your breasts. In a breast lift procedure it is the removal of excess skin and the breast tissue is reshaped to increase the size of the breasts. It is possible to opt for an upper breast lift if you feel your breasts are sagging or nose is pointing downwards. A breast lift could increase your self-esteem and self-confidence.

A breast lift doesn't drastically alter what size your breasts are. But, a breast lift is possible together with the augmentation of breasts or reduction of breasts.

  • Nursing, pregnancy or breastfeeding, gravity and weight gain or loss as well as normal aging and heredity have all taken their formless shape to your breasts. This can result in an excess of skin or sagging.
  • If your surgeon believes that breast implants will not give you the look you're looking for
  • If the tissue that surrounds the nipple or the areola has been stretched

If you're increasingly unsatisfied over the appearance in your chest, you might be wondering what mastopexy surgery could accomplish. Don't be shocked if your surgeon suggests that you combine breast augmentation or reduction with your lift. other procedures may be needed to meet your objectives.

Mastopexy procedures are performed under general anesthesia or with intravenous sedation at a hospital, free-standing surgical center, or a doctor's office with an operating suite. Different methods for removing the skin of the breast and changing the shape of the breast determine the place of the incisions as well as the resulting scars. The surgeon will choose the best method depending on the size of your breast and shape, the size of your areola and location, the degree of swelling of the breast, the condition of the skin and elasticity as well as the amount of excess fat you carry.

They differ based on the kind of incision the surgeon of your choice recommends to you. The surgeon may conceal certain incision lines within the natural breast contours. However, other incisions will be visible on the breast's surface.

Should a breast lift has been carried out correctly the breasts shouldn't be able to revert back to the droop they had prior to surgery for many years, as long as that you do not experience weight fluctuations or pregnancy. There may be some settling however, the new nipple positioning will remain in place. Discuss with your surgeon the procedure that is applied. Most aesthetic surgeons don't rely on a simple lift of the skin and instead, they work on the entire breast and create a more lasting lift.
